Willie Scott, 98, of Quincy, FL, peacefully departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Quincy, FL.
Born and raised in Quincy and Belle Glade FL, he accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Second Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until his health no longer permitted. He was educated in Gadsden and Palm Beach County School Systems, and proudly served in the United States Army. Following his honorably discharged service, he moved to New York City, joining the Community Church of Morrisania where he served for fifty years while also becoming the owner and founder of his own business Scott’s Antiques. Later, he dissolved his business to return to Quincy to assist in the care of his ailing mother Lottie Shaw.
It was then he began serving the needs of Gadsden County such as: Gadsden County Senior Citizen Organization as a Volunteer, Spokesman, and Advocate, Scottown Neighborhood Watch Advisor, and also serving faithfully as a member and later Chairman of the Trustee Board at Second Elizabeth M.B. Church. Known for his kindness, loving spirit, and wise advice, Willie became one of the most compassionate and giving members of the Gadsden County community.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Second Elizabeth M.B. Church in Quincy, FL with burial at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Bradwell Mortuary in Quincy, FL.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories: a loving sister and caretaker: Ella Mae Edwards; one brother: Charlie H. Shaw (Marsha); A host of nieces, nephews, cousins including his devoted cousin Kenneth Lightfoot (whom he loved like a son), other relatives, and friends.
