Willie Hunter, Jr. was born January 20, 1958 in Havana, FL to the late Willie “Jim” Hunter and Daisy Hunter. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Willie Mae Bush and Annie Jerger, and one brother: Leroy Hunter.
Willie received his education in the Gadsden County School District. He graduated from Havana Northside High School. He attended Tallahassee Community College. Willie was married to his wife, Dorothy R. Hunter, on February 23, 2002. He was employed as a Supervisor 2 for the State of Florida DMS, maintaining the Capitol grounds & gardens. In addition to his enjoyment of talking to others about the Bible, he also enjoyed taking care of lawns & gardens, going fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa.” Willie was a member of the Quincy English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, serving as an elder there for many years. He dedicated his life to the sanctification of Jehovah’s name on March 16, 1978.
Willie passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at home. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Dorothy R. Hunter of Quincy FL; two stepdaughters: Ginger Yates (Toby) and Ashley Robinson, both of Tallahassee FL; one granddaughter: Brooklyn Matthews of Tallahassee FL; three grandsons: Devon Robinson, Todd Yates, and Jayden Knight, all of Tallahassee FL; six sisters: Kelleen Hunter (Byron) of Havana FL, Eva Bush and Evelyn Hunter of Orlando FL, Wanna L. Jenkins of Miami FL, Christine Pride (Curtis) and Patricia Clark (Gerry) both of Alabama; five brothers: William Hunter (Mary) of Orlando FL, Ronnie Hunter (Tiffany) of Quincy FL, Shelly Hunter, Joe Hunter (Mary), and Clinton Hunter (Dee), all of Havana FL. He also leaves a supportive family of in-laws, the Hinsons; a host of devoted nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends; also countless loving friends whom he considered his spiritual “brothers and sisters”.
