Virgilene Harrison, 81, of Quincy, FL transitioned from labor to reward Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Quincy, FL. Born August 14, 1942 in Gretna, FL, Virgilene confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna, FL. She was educated in the Gadsden County Public Schools. After high school, she relocated to Dayton, Ohio and lived there for over 40 years. Professionally , she worked as a medical assistant and she was the owner/baker of Grandma Virgie’s Pies in Dayton, Ohio. Virgilene loved gardening and could be described as calm spirited and loving.
Funeral services will be 11am, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna, FL, with burial at St. Paul PB Church cemetery, Gretna, FL. Visitation will be 3pm – 6pm, Friday, December 29, 2023 at Bradwell Mortuary, Quincy, FL.
She leaves to cherish her memory – a three children, Cassandra Singleton of Quincy, FL, John Harrison, Jr. of Dayton, OH and Darnell Harrison, Sr. of Dayton, OH; four sisters, Ruby Smith of Dayton, OH, Essie Bethea Gipson of Gretna, FL, Marilyn Johnson of Gretna, FL, and Carolyn Blackman of Miami, FL; six grandchildren, Andrian Harley-Harris of Jacksonville, FL, Anna Harley of Quincy, FL, Darnell Harrison, Jr., Davion Harrison, Kiera Harrison, and Jay’Dee Harrison – all of Dayton, OH; eight great-grandchildren; two aunts, Janie Sailor of Quincy, FL and Viola Sailor of Waterloo, IW; and a host of other relatives and friends.
