Velma “Lou” Russ Lee was born in Quincy, Florida to the late Aubrey Russ, Sr. and
Lillie Mae Wynn-Russ on May 20, 1954. She departed this life on Sunday, September
6, 2021. She was preceded in death by her daughter Retina Walker.
Velma graduated from James A. Shanks High School with the Class of 1973. After
graduation she went on to obtain her license as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1978.
She worked 30 plus years in the healthcare industry.
Velma is survived by her husband, Willie R. Lee of Quincy, FL; daughters Shakonda
(Clearwater), Vecia (Andre), Kenya (Stan), Jaketa, and Azuredee (Fritz); sons Alexander
Lee, Terrance Lee, Horace Lee, OJ Lee, and Montez Lee; brothers Ben (deceased),
Wilma (deceased), Aubrey Russ Jr., Larry (deceased), Solomon, Adolph, Kenneth,
Earnie and Lorenzo; sisters Parthenia (Willie), Sandra, Jacqueline (Phil), Delbra, Shebra
(Ricky); grandchildren, Myron (Big Al), Jasmine, Leondria (Teensy), Malachi (Bush),
Jayla, Kimora (Toots), Destini (Boots), Haysen (Pete), and Jade Lee (Lil Mama); special
niece and nephews Brian, Ashley, Aubrey and Roderick; an additional 30 grands; a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.
Velma was a very caring and outgoing person. She was always the life of the party,
what you saw was what you got, and she never switched up. She loved her family
endlessly and she will forever be missed.
