Mr. Roland F. Cushman was born March 26, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Vivian and Benjamin Cushman. He peacefully departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Quincy, Florida. He was raised in a deeply rooted religious home, where he was instilled with lifelong Christian values.
Roland was educated in the Detroit Public School System with the graduating class of 1961 from Pershing High School. He attended the community college. Roland was employed by Ford Motor
Company. He was drafted into the United States Army where he honorably served as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Outside of work, Roland enjoyed bowling, softball, track and field, and being at the horse range. He was a die-hard Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. He maintained a keen interest in politics. He especially found joy in volunteering and serving his community, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
His memories will be cherished by his beloved wife Sandra; children, Carlos Cushman (Ava) (Det), Monique Cushman (GA), Rapheal Cushman (Deanna) (Det), Ashanti Cushman (Det), DeJuan Cushman (Det); granddaughter, Asia Cushman (Det); siblings, Ronnie Cushman (deceased), Beverly Johnson (deceased), Micheal Tyrone Cushman, Sr. (Patricia), Regena Lawrence, Pamela Brown, Benita Warren (Marcus); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
