Roderick Gerald Palmer, 57, of Quincy, FL transitioned from labor to reward Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Tallahassee, FL. He was an active member of the New Bethel AME Church wherein he served as the Minister of Music. “Rod” was educated in the public schools of Gadsden County graduating with the Class of 1985 from James A. Shanks High School. He furthered his studies at Florida A&M University. He was a initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc in the Spring of 1987 through the Beta Nu Chapter on the campus of FAMU. In 1994, He went on to become of the chartering members of the Pi Psi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. seated in Quincy, FL.
Services will be 1:00pm, Saturday, April 6, 2024 at New Bethel AME Church, Quincy, FL, with burial at Sunnyvale Cemetery, Quincy, FL. Visitation will be 3pm – 6pm, Friday, April 5, 2024 at Bradwell Mortuary, Quincy, FL.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Yolanda Foxx-Palmer of Tallahassee, FL; a son, Braxton Palmer of Fairfield, CA; a daughter, Mikayla Smith of Tallahassee, FL; a sister, Linda Palmer of Quincy, FL; a nephew, Lyndon Palmer Douglas of Quincy, FL; a granddaughter, Sania Palmer of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
