Minnie L. Houston, 98, of Quincy, Florida, peacefully departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Quincy, Florida. She was born on September 28, 1927, in Quincy, Florida, Gadsden County, and was a lifelong resident of the community she loved and served so faithfully.
Minnie was educated in the Public Schools of Gadsden County and accepted Christ at an early age, later becoming a devoted and faithful member of St. Hebron A.M.E. Church, where she remained committed throughout her life.
She dedicated her professional life to serving others through the nursing profession, working faithfully for 33 years at Florida State Hospital. Minnie’s life of service extended far beyond her profession, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Minnie was known for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and quiet strength. She found joy in crafting, shopping, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and helping others. She was a woman of deep love and devotion; first to God, and then to her family.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory two devoted daughters, Joyce Houston Willis of Quincy, Florida, and Senocia Faye Houston Lewis (Kimmie) of Quincy, Florida; four beloved grandchildren, Keysha Willis of Atlanta, Georgia, Marquise Houston of Quincy, Florida, Kierra Lewis of Quincy, Florida, and Kayla Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will forever hold her legacy in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life Service honoring the life and legacy of Minnie L. Houston will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hebron A.M.E. Church in Quincy, Florida.
