Mildred Michelle Clemons, 52, transitioned to eternal rest Sunday, June 19, 2022. She was born May 23, 1970 at the #1 HBCU, Florida A & M University. Therefore, she always considered herself a “natural born Rattler”.
Mildred confessed Christ at an early age at New St. Mary M.B. Church. Mildred attended Gadsden County Schools where she graduated from Havana Northside High School in the Class of 1988. She was an adamant believer of education graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from Florida A & M University and a Master’s degree from Florida State University.
Besides being God-fearing in her Christian walk, she was a woman of love and compassion, which led her to have a rewarding career in education, first starting with Gadsden County Schools and moving to Jefferson County Schools. Her final destination brought her to Leon County Schools where she served until her passing. She loved working with children; watching them grow and develop into independent learners.
Mildred developed a passion for gardening, painting, traveling and serving others. She devoted much of her time to volunteerism and giving back. During holidays, she served at several food kitchens and gave to many in her efforts to further her mission. Another of her goals consisted of growing her long, lovely hair so that she could donate for wigs designs for women in need.
Mildred devoted her entire life to serving in New St. Mary M.B. Church and helping others in the community. She took great pride in her membership with the National Hookup of Black Women and the Havana Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Committee. In her role at her church, she would spend countless hours sending resolutions to churches around the community to families who had lost loved ones. She was a dedicated servant.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memories, her godchildren, Jahnavi Alena Byrd and Jahri Amar Byrd, several siblings, and a host of family members and loving friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Dan Clemons, Sr., and Elizabeth Hatcher, and a brother, Dan Clemons, Jr.
