Mattie Jane McGriff (Dickey-Patterson), 86, of Tallahassee, FL transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, September 7, 2023 peacefully at her home. Mattie was born January 1, 1937 in Calvary, GA and later moved her residence to Tallahassee, FL. She confessed Christ at an early age and served faithfully at New St. John AME Church of Havana, FL. Professionally, Mattie graduated from Florida A&M University and later became an educator. She loved gardening, baking, travel, and spending time with family.
Funeral Services will be 3pm Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Havana Magnet School, Havana, FL with burial at Barber Cemetery, Havana, FL. Visitation will be 3pm – 7pm Friday, September 15, 2023 at Bradwell Mortuary, Quincy, FL.
She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Avis Dickey of Atlanta, GA, Sharon Dickey of Tallahassee, FL, Arthur Dickey IV of Attapulgus, GA, Dexter Dickey of Baltimore, MD, and Tammy Patterson of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Jessie James McGriff of Havana, FL; nine grandchildren, Ronterius Sanders of Atlanta, GA, Arthur Dickey V of Havana, FL, Kiki Dickey of Atlanta, GA, Amber Dickey of Tallahassee, FL, Arteshia Dickey of Tallahassee, FL, Jalen Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Taylor Hollins of Atlanta, GA, Shiyna Kumar of Atlanta, GA, and Malachi Assefa of Baltimore, MD; seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
