Mother Mary E. Kelly, age 98, of Quincy, Florida, departed this earthly life on March 17, 2026.
Mother Kelly was born on February 18, 1928, in Quincy, Florida, and was a lifelong resident of Gadsden County. She was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, where she served the Lord wholeheartedly and touched many lives through her ministry and presence.
She was educated in the Gadsden County School System and attended Stevens High School. Known for her nurturing spirit, Mother Kelly found joy in baking and spending time visiting the sick and shut-in. Her life was a testament of faith, as she loved the Lord deeply and shared His word with everyone she encountered, always encouraging others and spreading the message of Jesus Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving family: three children; Claude Kelly, Jr. (Ilene) of Quincy, Florida,Lottie Fair (Marvin) of Quincy, Florida, Fred Kelly, Sr. (Judy) of Tallahassee, Florida; one son-in-law, Johnny Herron of Quincy, Florida; one brother, Albert Smith of Quincy, Florida; two sisters, Sarah Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, and Annie Bell Brown (Willie) of Quincy, Florida; along with 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Bradwell Mortuary in Quincy, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Greater Tanner Chapel AME Church in Quincy, Florida. Interment will follow at Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy, Florida.
