Ms. Mary Lee Daniels, 91 of Oak Grove, Florida quietly stopped breathing while sleeping on Tuesday evening, June 4 at 10:20pm surrounded by her family and transitioned from life temporal to life eternal.
She attended and graduated from the public schools of Gadsden County. She retired from the State of Florida after 40 years of exemplary service as a supervisor in the Diet Kitchen and upon its closing, a supervisor in the Forensic House Keeping Department. She was a life member of Oak Grove AME Church where she served on several church auxiliaries to include Sunday School, Missionary Society, Stewardess Board, Senior Choir, Lay Organization member and Senior Saints Ministry.
Mary enjoyed cooking for family and friends, working in her flowers passionately, especially dogwood trees, azaleas, crepe myrtles and hydrangeas. She also loved baking cakes such as Pound, Italian Crème, German Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Layered Pineapple. Her Carrot Cake recipe was published in The Art of Cooking in 1975. Cherishing fond memories are her only devoted daughter/caregiver and son-in law Beverly Butler-Lettinhand (Jerome), grandchildren, Niketa Love-Mitchell (Cory), Javacia Lettinand, Brandon Lettinhand (Brittainie), great grandchildren, Olice Mitchell, Kory Mitchell, and Naviannah Lettinhand, siblings, Arthur Walker (Victoria), Geraldine
Monroe, Freeman Walker, Walter Walker, special nephews, Fred Douglas Smith (Alice), Fountain Walker (Stacey), beloved nieces, Helen Clark, Jocelyn Sutphin (William), LeiLei Walker, and Rewa Walker. Goddaughters Kimberly Evans, Tomeka Bright, and Mary Taylor. Special friends include Daisy Johnson, Annie T. Sheard, Evelyn Pender, Lula Jones, Loretta Gardner and numerous family members and dear friends in the community and beyond.
The viewing will be Friday, June 14, 2024 at 3-5pm and Wake 5-6pm at Bradwell Mortuary. Service will be 11AM, Saturday, June 15 at Oak Grove AME Church with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
