"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty"
~ Psalm 91
Margaret Green was born July 19, 1952 in Quincy, Florida to the late Richard and Bessie Green. On
November 21, 2021 she departed her loved ones and was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves
to mourn one brother, three sisters, five nephews, two nieces and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins,
and friends.
Margaret received her education from the Gadsden County public schools and was a devoted
member of the James A. Shanks High School Class of 1971. After graduation, she attended Florida
A&M University where she majored in early childhood education, graduating with a Bachelor of
Science degree. After graduation, she went back to her roots and worked in the Gadsden County
public school system.
She accepted Christ as her personal savior at the age of 13 years old and was a devoted member of
Mt. Hosea M.B. Church where she attended faithfully until her death. She served in different roles
throughout her youth and adult life. As a youth, she participated as a junior usher under the direct
leadership of her mother, the late Bessie Kenon Green. Margaret’s education and love for children
transcended into her Christian calling where she had the opportunity to serve as a youth Sunday
school teacher.
Margaret loved reading, traveling, baking and spending time with family. Christmas was her most
favorite season and she enjoyed baking her favorite desserts such as date balls, fruit cake and
wedding cookies. She always made sure no one was left out and gave many gifts from the heart, but
most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Margaret leaves to mourn her four siblings, Bernard Green (Mary), Miramar, FL, Shirley Green
Knight (Arzie) of Quincy, FL, Betty Green McKay (Allen), Tallahassee, FL, Wanda Green Jett
(Lawrence) of Blythewood, SC; five nephews, Marcus Knight, Derrick Knight, Quinton Green
(Quincy, FL), Drew Green (Tallahassee, FL), Derrion Dowdell (Columbus, OH); two nieces,
Bernadette Green (Miramar, FL), Lauren Jett (Blythewood, SC); and a host of other relatives and
friends.
