Johnnie Mae Mathis Lamb was born to the late James and Reathel Tennell Mathis on December
28, 1942 in Midway, Florida.
Johnnie was raised in a loving home with ten siblings: Arthur, Sarah, Lizzie, Sandra, Charles,
Hilda, Cynthia, Jonathan, Tracy and Cecil.
Johnnie was educated in the Gadsden County Public School System. She lived, worked, retired
and passed in her hometown of Midway. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday,
November 17, 2022.
Johnnie met and married the late Robert Timothy “RT” Lamb in 1964. To this union eight
children were born: Shirley, Christopher (deceased), Carolyn (deceased), Claudia (deceased),
Shawanna, Deana, Tammie, and Kenya.
She leaves to mourn children: Marilyn Mathis, Timothy Mathis, Shirley Lamb, Shawanna Lamb,
Tammie (James) Jackson, Kenya Lamb all of Midway, FL and Deana (James) Chambers of
Tallahassee, FL, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren, siblings: Hilda
(George) Jackson of Tallahassee, Cynthia Herring of Midway, Jonathan (Linda) Mathis of
Tallahassee, Tracy Mathis of Tallahassee and Cecil (Vickie) Mathis of Midway, FL, a special niece
Sonya McCray of Midway, FL, a special friend Linda Gail Bell of Quincy, FL and a host of nieces,
nephews, and other relatives and friends.
