Johnnie Mae Brady Obituary

On Saturday morning, June 26, 2021, while resting in her husband's arms, Mae answered God's call and departed this life to be with HIM. Johnnie Mae Williams Brady, daughter of the late Lillie Mae Williams and the late John Henry Andrews was born on May 6, 1949 in Havana, Florida.

Mae found Jesus at a very young age and joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Havana, Florida. She attended the public schools of Gadsden County and graduated from Northside High School in 1968 where she was crowned Miss Northside. Mae met her husband, Walter, at her Miss Northside Coronation and they were wed in May of 1971.

As the wife of a US Air Force member, Mae was able to travel to several locations overseas and stateside. She worked in the Travis AFB school district and Base Exchange. Upon Walter's retirement from the Air Force, Mae worked for the Leon County School District.

Mae was preceded in death by her brother, Bennie McGriff.

She leaves to cherish her memory: devoted husband of 50 years, Walter;  loving daughter, Tonya, and son, Walter Jr.; lovely daughter-in-law, Gabriel; sisters, Kelsey (Andrew) Weatherspoon (Havana, Fl), Hazel (the late Albert) Stephens (Quincy, Fl.), Linda Andrews Hogan (St. Petersburg, Fl), Hattie Mae (Billy) Cogman (Havana, Fl), and Ethel Lee McGriff (Tallahassee, Fl); two brothers, Robert (Beverly) McGriff (Havana, Fl) and Sylvester McGriff (Havana, Fl). Four dear long time friends,  Roxanne Enzor (Havana, Fl), Mary Bell Smith (Havana, Fl), Marva George (Quincy, Fl), and Laura Gaines (Tallahassee, Fl). Mae leaves an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws numbering in the hundreds. She will be greatly missed by her Old Bethel AME Church family as well.
