Joe Lee Allen, Sr. was born October 3, 1930 in Baker County, Georgia to the late Jimmie and Hattie Mae Sanders-Allen. He departed his life on Sunday, July 18, 2021. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted servant of God. He was an honorable member of Faith Temple of Jesus Christ Church in Quincy, Florida. He was educated in Baker County Georgia schools.
Joe was married to the late Polly Mae Allen whom he loved with all his heart. He was a magnificent husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved singing to the Glory of God all over Gadsden County. He was known for his favorite song “Traveling Shoes”. His last wishes before he departed was for all of his family to come together and love one another. His smiling face and strong voice will deeply be missed.
Joe leaves his memories to be cherished by his 9 children, Lou Gene Allen, Sr., Joe Lee Allen, Sr., Jack Allen, Sr., Mack Allen (Jacqualine), all of Quincy, FL, Larry Allen and Travis Allen of Jacksonville, FL, Ruby Lee Wheeler, Rose Mary Rozier (Keema) of San Diego, CA, and Lois Allen-Mack (Orlando) of Rochester, NY; stepdaughter, Patrishaia Williams of Rochester, NY; 7 siblings, Luke Allen (Lula – deceased) of Quincy, FL, John and Katie Allen of Quincy, FL, Trois Allen Ford of Quincy, FL, Hilton Allen of Quincy, FL, Milford Allen (Eloiseweed – deceased) of Atlanta, GA, Elbert Lee and Lillie Bell of Crestview, FL; 35 grandchildren; a host of great grands, nieces, nephews; and a bunch of other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Polly Mae Allen; daughter Josephine Baylou; son Johnny C. Allen; and three grandsons Anthony Allen, Jonathan Allen and Kim Bruce Breedlove.
