Jenkins Walker, 84, of Quincy, Florida passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his home in
Quincy (Sycamore), Florida. Born in Greensboro, Florida, he was a lifelong resident of Gadsden County.
He was a member of Salem AME Church in Greensboro. He was employed for 43 years at Florida State
Hospital as a baker. He and his family were known for their cane syrup. In addition to growing sugar
cane, Jenkins grew many other vegetables, including sweet potatoes, corn, peas, and watermelons. He
also raised hogs. “Jank” as he was affectionately known, loved farming. He was a kind, quiet man who
loved his family and enjoyed sharing with family and friends the fruits and vegetables grown on the
farm. Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Salem AME Church, Greensboro.
Viewing will be Friday, December 2, 2022 from 3pm to 7pm at Bradwell Mortuary.
Surviving family includes daughters, Carolyn F. Walker, Quincy, Florida and Lasanja Graham, Atlanta,
Georgia; sisters, Elouise Walker Daniels, Chattahoochee, FL and Carol Walker Murray (William), St Louis,
MO; brothers, S.W. Walker, Tallahassee, FL and Glenn Walker, Quincy, FL; grandchildren, Quintera
Safford and Quinton Safford; sister-in-law, Louise Walker; and aunt, Catherine Gainous.
