Inez M. Holt, 89, of Quincy, FL, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Tallahassee, FL. Born on April 9, 1935, Inez was a product of the Gadsden County Public School System. She pursued higher education at Bethune-Cookman College, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1956, and later received her Master’s Degree from Florida A&M University. Inez dedicated 34 years of service to the Gadsden County School District, leaving an enduring legacy as an educator.
A devoted Christian, she faithfully served at New Zion AME Church in Quincy, FL, where her roles included past president of the Missionary Society, Usher Board member, trustee, church school teacher, and pantry aide auxiliary.
Inez was also active in numerous professional, civic, and community organizations. She was a Golden Life Member of the Gadsden County Florida Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a member of the Community and Economic Development Organization (CEDO), a Life Member of the National Education Association, and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni Association, among others.
Her dedication and impact earned her numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Riverchase Health and Rehabilitation Center Family Council, the 2008 Woman of the Year honor from the National Hookup of Black Women, and the 1984-85 Teacher of the Year recognition from Carter-Parramore Junior High School.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at New Zion AME Church in Quincy, FL, followed by interment at Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Bradwell Mortuary in Quincy.
Inez leaves behind cherished memories with her four children: Charleston Holt, Jr. of Quincy, FL; Jeffery Holt of Atlanta, GA; Renee Holt Copeland of Cairo, GA; and Sylnovia Holt Rabb of Pflugerville, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Hall of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her life was a testament to faith, service, and love, and her legacy will endure in the lives of those she touched.
