Hamilton Baker was born October 18, 1925 in Hosford, Florida to the late Burris Baker and Mary Grover Baker. He was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 30, 2022.  He accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul African Methodist Church in Blountstown and was a faithful member and served on the Trustee Board until his demise.

He attended public school in Calhoun County. He worked 31 years at Florida State Hospital before retirement. He served his country by joining the United States Army. He was a World War II Veteran and enjoyed storytelling about his service time. He was the oldest member of Empire Bethel Lodge #202.   

Hamilton loved fishing, hunting, farming and enjoyed many family gatherings.  He was a pillar of the community and known to many as the “community father”.  He was one to always give a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved all of his grandchildren and found joy in playing with his newest grand “Zoe”.

He leaves his memories to be cherished by his son, LaCoya Monlyn(Vilma) of Ashburn, Virginia; daughters, Barbara M. Orr (Frank E.) of Augusta, Georgia, Antoinette Monlyn of Bristol, Florida, MarcetaRobinson (Tony) of Blountstown, Florida, Youlando Baker of Panama City, Florida and Shirane Baker, of Atlanta, Georgia; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.
