Elouise Hatten Lewis

Elouise Hatten Lewis was born in Enterprise, Alabama on August 1, 1940 to the union of John and
Effie Copeland Hatten. On Monday, January31, 2022 in Tallahassee, Florida, she answered her
lord’s call and transitioned from this earthly life. At an early age her family moved to the state of
Florida where she met and married Joe Lewis, Sr. To that union six children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Hazel Bailey, Evelene Pittman McMann, Bertha
Spooney, Sylvia Pittman Wade, Johnnie Crapps, Jake Brown and Ella Brown; and brothers, Jim
Hatten, John Hatten, Jr., Solomon Webb, Willie C. Williams, Adele Pittman, Aaron Pittman, O. C.
Pittman, Raymond Hatten and Willie Crapp.

She leaves with cherished memories seven loving children: daughters Karen D. Sailor (Tyrone) and
Chandra Lewis; sons JohnnyLewis (Susan), Kimmie Lewis (Faye), RodneyLewis (Rashanda), John
Edward Lewis and Joe Lewis, Jr.; brothers Willie Hatten of Tampa, Ricky (CeCe ), Larry Hattten
and Tim Hatten of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters Oretha, Lucille and Mary Hatten of West Palm
Beach FL; aunts Willeen Moore and Yvonne Byrd of Tallahassee, FL; one uncle John Wesley Kelly
of Montgomery, AL; 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; loving and supportive nieces,
Amelia Price (Derrick), and Vanessa Ginyard (Joe), Kelly Miller (Damion), Pamela Baily (John),
and Sharon McMillian (Roderick); sisters-in-law Louise Lewis, Betty King (Willie), Mattie Brown
(Herbert), Lovenia Hatten, Annie Hatten and Marvine Hatten; best friends Francis Henderson and
Maggie Nolen; caregivers Joyce McClure· and staff of Seven Hills Rehabilitation Center; a host of
other relatives and friends. She will live in our hearts and memories forever.
