Elma Cummings Obituary

Mother Elma Cummings, age 93, of Quincy, Florida, peacefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Born on February 17, 1933, in Headland, Alabama, Elma lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion to family. She received her education through the local school system and later dedicated many years of service as a Nutritionist with the Cooperative Extension Service.

A faithful member and founding mother of Bear Creek Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Mother Cummings remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She found joy in sewing, baking, and spending time with her loved ones. Family was at the center of her life, and she was known as a loving wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother, and treasured friend. Her kindness, wisdom, and nurturing spirit touched generations and left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Cummings during a visitation on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bradwell Mortuary in Quincy, Florida. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bear Creek Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Quincy, Florida. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy, Florida.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted son, Henry Cummings, Jr., of Quincy, Florida; daughter-in-law, Maiyana Cummings, of Quincy, Florida; grandchildren, Sierra Harris, Tameka Cummings, Brenteysha Houston, Simone Cummings, and Shelton Turner, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Demarian Graddy, Xyana Pugh, Ranicia Turner, Brenden Pugh, and Khali Bracey; her brother, Auburn Ford, Sr.; sister-in-law, Luz Ford; son-in-law, William Singleton of Sarasota, Florida; sister-in-law, Kristin C. Ford of Tucson, Arizona; godson, Maurice Woods of Quincy, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
