Elder Edwin B. Rush, Sr. was born March 18, 1955 in Tallahassee, FL to the late Ed Rawl and Jessie Lee Rush.
He received his formal education in the private schools of Leon County, FL graduating in the Class of 1973 from FAMU High School. He continued his education at the prestigious Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University graduating in 1976 with his degree in Accounting and Journalism.
Elder Rush enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country for 12 years.
Elder Rush accepted Christ at an early age. He later joined the Church of Jesus Christ Holy Mission Pentecostal where he served faithfully.
Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at St. Peter Apostolic Church, Quincy, FL, with burial at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, Monday November 6, 2023. Visitation will be 3pm – 7pm, Friday, November 3, 2023 at Bradwell Mortuary, Quincy, FL.
Left to cherish his precious memory are his devoted wife, Luretha Rush; children, Edwin Rush, Jr. of Sheboygan, WI, Jessica Rush of Tallahassee, FL, and Candance Rush of Tallahassee, FL; step-children, Sharon York (Mario), Marlethia Moore, Tameka Penn, James Penn, Keith Penn – all of Tallahassee, FL and Reginald Penn of Dallas, TX; siblings, Barbara Mitchell of Detroit, MI, Karen Manning, Julia McNeil (Alphonso), and Selina Rush – all of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-laws, Margaret McQueen, Ollie Mae Hatten, and Lila Bradley; brother-in-laws, Charles Hatten and David Sinclar; 16 grandchildren; a grandson/special caregiver, Terrell Haire, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Johnny McQueen and Danza Rush.
