Billy Johnson, Jr., 92, of Quincy, FL, peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Tallahassee, FL.
Born and raised in Quincy, he accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Old Bethel AME Church, where he served faithfully until his health no longer permitted. He was educated in the Gadsden County Public School System and proudly served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he returned home to work with the Gadsden County School System’s Maintenance Department.
Known for his love of fishing, hunting, and making people smile, Mr. Johnson found great joy in the outdoors. After retiring, he spent much of his time fishing at Lake Talquin, where his passion became well known and embraced by many in the local fishing community.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Old Bethel AME Church in Quincy, FL, with burial to follow at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Bradwell Mortuary in Quincy, FL.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three children – Steffany Johnson-Williams of Jacksonville, FL; Stanley Johnson of Quincy, FL; and Marion Oliver of Melbourne, FL; one brother – Joe Musgray of Tallahassee, FL; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
