Bessie Ruth Bell, 81, of Quincy, FL, transitioned from earth to glory on Friday, June 28, 2024, in Quincy, FL. A native of Gadsden County, FL, she confessed Christ at an early age and served faithfully at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. Bessie was educated in the Gadsden County School District, graduating from Carter-Parramore High School.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Quincy, FL, with burial following at Sunnyvale Cemetery, Quincy, FL. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Bradwell Mortuary, Quincy, FL.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Michael Bouie, Sr. (Suzette) of Tallahassee, FL; Darrell Cotton of Quincy, FL; and Sonya Butler of Huntsville, AL. She is also survived by two siblings: Lula Stokes of Albany, GA, and Council Calloway of Quincy, FL; five grandchildren: Phillip R. Bouie of Quincy, FL; Darrell Cotton, Jr. of Quincy, FL; Darilyn Cotton of Tallahassee, FL; Michael Bouie Jr. of Quincy, FL; Tyler Bouie of Quincy, FL; and Erykah Jenkins of Huntsville, AL; a great-grandson, Jaiden Bouie of Quincy, FL; and four nephews and nieces: Ronald Gilliam of Atlanta, GA; Leonard Marshall of Tallahassee, FL; Valorie Stokes of Atlanta, GA; and Alfredo Stokes of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by a cousin, Rosaland Love of Macon, GA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
