Anthony Howard, affectionately known to many as “Amp” or “AmpNewt,” peacefully passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on November 30, 1968, in Quincy, FL, to Edward Howard and Gloria Dickens (Bouie), Anthony’s life was one filled with joy, love, and vibrant energy that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Anthony was a devoted father, loving husband, supportive brother, and cherished friend whose heart overflowed with kindness. His ability to connect with others was remarkable, and he found joy in making people laugh, sharing wisdom, and lifting spirits through his warm and generous nature. His passion for his community, especially the elderly, and his undeniable love for music left lasting memories with those he touched.
If you were lucky enough to catch one of his impromptu “private concerts,” you’d understand that music was more than a hobby—it was part of his soul. On Sundays, he could have easily passed as the lead singer of a church praise team, and on any other day, you’d find him acting like he was the star of a band. Anthony also had a love for cooking, ensuring no one ever left his presence hungry, and he had the rare gift of feeding not just stomachs but hearts.
A natural comedian with a sharp wit, Anthony had a take on everything—from world events to sports, and especially Florida State University (Go Noles!). He cheered for any Florida team, whether college or professional, and brought that same passion to every part of his life.
Despite not being tech-savvy at first, Anthony mastered the art of TikTok, leaving behind countless videos on his page, “AmpNewtFla,” filled with humor, wisdom, and unforgettable memories that will continue to bring joy to those who loved him.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Edward Howard. He is survived by his loving wife, Renee Cole-Howard; his daughters, Kendra Houser and Amaree Howard; his son, Chykeif Howard; his beloved granddaughter, Layla Johnson; his mother, Gloria Bouie; his brother, Ronnie Howard; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.
Anthony’s legacy of love, laughter, and light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his impact will never be forgotten.
