Annette Bethea McMillan was born to the late Gabe Bethea Jr. and the late Jeannette Henry Bethea in Gadsden County, Florida on January 31, 1940. She was the only girl born to this union.
She committed her life to Christ in September 1952 and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W.E. McMillan, Sr.
A loved one has departed from this earth for another land; " For He was looking for the city which hath foundation, whose builder and maker is God" Hebrews 11:10.
She received her education in the Gadsden County School System. She was employed at the Florida State Hospital as a Unit Treatment Rehabilitation Specialist until her retirement. Later she worked as a volunteer for 12 years with Elder Care Services as a Foster Grandparent in the school system.
She served faithful in the church until her passing. She served on the mother board, president of the usher board, and a member of the Mission Society. She also served 12 years as president of the mission department of the Pine Bloom Association, 7 years as president of the 3rd Sunday Home Mission department and the association treasurer.
She was a member of the International Free and accepted Masons and Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron for the Devine Light #241 from 1993 - 2012. She also served as District Matron for District 34 from 1995 - 2006. She served as vice president of the White Lily Ushers Union from 2002 - 2008, then became president and served from 2008 - 2022.
She was a teacher and loved to train others. Just as she was beautiful, she loved to decorate making things beautiful using arts and crafts. She also loved to sew and was a fashionable seamstress.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Willie Earnest McMillan, Jr., August 25, 1956. He preceded her in death July 23, 2002. Five children were born to this union. She was a very loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, grammy, aunt, and friend, who will dearly missed by those lives she touched.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories; three daughters, Sharon McMillan Holder, Glenda McMillan (Reginald) Ray, and Teresa McMillan (Dewitt) Atwater - all of Quincy, FL; two sons, Andra (Teresa G.) McMillan of Tallahassee, FL, Delmonta McMillan of Quincy, FL; one stepdaughter, Mary (Josephus) Whaley of Gretna, FL; two brothers, Robert (Rhoda) Bethea, and James (Rachel) Bethea of Quincy, FL; two brothers-in-law, B.J. Campbell of Ft. Myers, FL, and L.C. Jones of Tampa, FL; sisters -in-law, Dortha McMillan of Cincinnati, OH, Mary Ann McMillan of Orlando, FL, Essie Gipson and Mattie Bethea of Gretna, FL; one aunt, Martha Henry of Quincy, FL; 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Gabe and Jeannette Bethea; brothers, Earnest, Coley, Joseph, Claudell, and Charles Bethea; one grandson, Melvin Ray; son-in-law, Larry Holder, and the love of her life, Deacon Willie E. McMillan Jr.
